Once a mandate has been received, the firm adopts a three-pronged search approach through database, advertising and market research. Each assignment undergoes an initial database search, which represents a comprehensive market overview, often done within one week of receipt of mandate. If the pool of candidates is deemed too small, consultants will conduct market-based research to identify additional candidates as well as work with the client on suggested advertising options.
Under normal circumstances, a comprehensive short list can be presented within three weeks. Subject to client feedback, allowing further refinement of search parameters, a second stage can be conducted for another week. Within 3-4 weeks clients should have concluded first round interviews with candidate feedback and viability provided by Hughes-Castell.
By the 6th week, the client should be able to draw up a short list for final interviews. Hughes-Castell works with the client to ensure that expectations on both sides are realistic. The firm assists in compensation package structuring and salary levels and is the interface between client and candidate for feedback and negotiations. In most cases, closing should be within 4 weeks of final interviews.
