Doreen Jaeger
Born and educated in Hong Kong, Doreen majored in Psychology at Occidental College in California. She joined Hughes-Castell in 1991 and is a Managing Director of the company. She covers private practice and in-house in Asia. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, German and French and proficient in Mandarin.
Some of her achievements include a US firm’s acquisition of an entire regional securitization practice—consisting of a team of seven lawyers including a partner, a UK law firm in its acquisition of its Tokyo office from a competing firm, a Wall Street firm’s acquisition of a Korean law practice, as well as the recruitment of the General Counsel to a power company, the General Counsel to a global technology manufacturing company, the regional counsel of an international insurance company, the Head of Legal of a major hedge fund, the COO of a global investment bank and the General Counsel of a household name in asset management.

Katy Lang
Born and educated in Hong Kong, Katy majored in Psychology at York University in Canada. She joined Hughes-Castell in 1993 and is a Managing Director of the company, covering private practice and in-house. She is fluent in Cantonese and English and proficient in Mandarin.
Career highlights include recruitment of partners and teams to US law firms and other partner placements to UK Magic Circle firms. She has also engaged in a highly successful practice of placing senior counsels in legal departments of prominent corporations highly placed in the Fortune 500.

Dora Cheung
Joining Hughes-Castell in 2000, Dora is a Senior Consultant who graduated with an LLB degree at Brunel University, West London. Before joining Hughes-Castell she joined a major Hong Kong based law firm as a trainee and gained a further two years post-qualification experience. Dora has successfully placed junior to mid-level associates at UK and US firms in Hong Kong and Japan. She has successfully recruited legal counsel for Fortune 500 and international companies in Hong Kong, China, Korea and Japan. She is fluent in English and Cantonese.

Connie Hui
Connie grew up and obtained her BSc and LLB in Canada; qualifying as a lawyer in British Columbia, prior to moving to Hong Kong in 1999. She also has an LLM from the University of Hong Kong. She has worked in both in-house and private practice settings in Hong Kong and thus has the necessarily insight and experience to support both in-house and private practice recruitment assignments at Hughes-Castell. Connie speaks fluent English and Cantonese and, since joining Hughes-Castell in 2005, has successfully placed candidates at top banks and corporations as well as top tier firms.

Charmaine Chan
Charmaine graduated with an LLB degree at University of Sheffield in England. She returned to Hong Kong and retrained as a recruitment consultant joining Hughes-Castell in 2005. She has supported various assignments including in-house and private practice positions in Hong Kong and China. She has assisted in the recruitment for many Fortune 500 companies and leading European corporations.

Beijing
Annabel Allen
Annabel came to China in 1987 and has more than twelve years’ experience in the China legal market, having started in the China Practice Group of Baker & McKenzie. She has spent the past eight years in Beijing and is the General Manager of Hughes-Castell’s Beijing subsidiary. She holds a BA (Hons) in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Leeds and an LLB from the University of London. She speaks fluent Mandarin, basic Cantonese and has perfected her Chinese reading skills through hours of perusing legal documents.
Annabel has placed lawyers both in-house and in private practice, including hiring general counsel for US-listed companies and the China team for a major US law firm. She works on senior level hires, including partners. She has extensive experience in arranging tax efficient salary structures and is frequently consulted on ways to build strong legal teams in China. Annabel is a respected member of the Beijing business community, having served as director on the board of the British Chamber of Commerce in China and being an active member in a number of other business organizations. She organizes regular events for corporate counsel in Beijing and has spoken at a number of in-house counsel events in Shanghai and Beijing.

Sara Shao
Sara joined the Hughes-Castell Beijing office in 2006 as a consultant where she works on the placement of junior lawyers in China. She graduated from the Business College of Massey University, New Zealand, majoring in Human Resource Management. She is a PRC national who speaks fluent English and has worked in both New Zealand and China.
